Teritoriul administrativ al comunei Banisor ocupa o suprafata de 32,10 km2 din Depresiunea Simleului, in bazinul hidrografic al Banului, afluent de stanga al Crasnei.
Comuna este alcatuita din trei localitati: Banisor - sat resedinta de comuna situat la 30 km fatã de municipiul Zalau, Ban si Peceiu - sate componente ale comunei.
Vechimea locuirii in aceasta zona este sustinuta de atestarile documentare ale localitatilor comunei. Banisorul si Banul sunt atestate documentar din anul 1213, sub denumirea de villa Ban si respectiv villa Bani. La un an diferenta, Peceiu este mentionat sub denumirea de villa Pechely.
Populatia totala a comunei numara la ultimul recensamant 2419 de locuitori. Din punct de vedere etnic, populatia comunei are urmatoarea structura: 99,79% romani si 0,21% maghiari.
Economia comunei este una preponderent agrara, aici inregistrandu-se insemnate productii la culturile cerealiere.
Folclorul, obiceiurile traditionale, harnicia si ospitalitatea oamenilor de pe aceste meleaguri salajene fac din aceasta comuna un areal atractiv din punct de vedere turistic.
The administrative territory of the commune stretches over a 32,10 square kms surface in the Simleu Basin, in the hydrographical basin of the Ban River which is the left tributary of the Crasna River.
The commune has three component villages: Banisor - the central village situated at 30 kms distance from Zalau city, Ban and Peceiu.
Banisor and Ban were mentioned for the first time in written documents in 1213 when they were denominated villa Ban respectively villa Bani. A year later Peceiu was mentioned and named villa Pechely.
The total population of the commune counts, according to the last census, 2419 inhabitants, of which 99,79% are Romanians and 0,21% are Hungarians.
The most important economical sector is the agriculture, the commune being a corn-producing area.
Due to the folklore, the folk customs, the hospitality and diligence of the inhabitants, this village has become an attractive area from the touristic point of view.
