Surduc

Teritoriul administrativ al comunei, cu o suprafata de 71,42 km2, se desfasoara la contactul a trei unitati de relief importante: Culoarul Somesului, Dealurile Simisna-Garbou si Depresiunea Almas-Agrij.

Din punct de vedere administrativ, comuna are in componenta sapte sate: Surduc sat resedinta de comuna situat la o distanta de 35 km fata de municipiul Zalau, Braglez, Cristoltel, Solona, Trestioara, Tihau, si Turbuta.

Populatia comunei numara la ultimul recensamant 4026 de locuitori, din care 97,06% romani, 0,27% maghiari, 2,63 % rromi si 0,04% alte nationalitati.

Posedand importante resurse minerale exploatabile, pana nu demult economia comunei era sustinuta de activitatile miniere legate de exploatarea carbunelui brun si a agregatelor de balastiera cantonate in luncile Somesului, Almasului si Braglezului. in ultimii ani, pe langa sectorul agricol bine reprezentat la nivelul comunei, s-a produs o revigorare accentuata a sectorului economic secundar si in randul serviciilor.

Din punct de vedere turistic, fara indoiala Somesul reprezinta principalul element atractiv al comunei. Fondul turistic de natura antropica, reprezentat de ruinele castrului roman de la Tihau, biserica de lemn "Sfintii Arhangheli" din Turbuta (sec. XVII), castelul Josika din Surduc (sec. XVII-XIX) completeaza zestrea turistica a comunei.

Surduc

The commune has a 71,42 square kms territory, it lies at the contact point between the Somes Couloir, the Simisna - Garbou Hills and the Almas- Agrij Basin. It consists of seven villages: Surduc - the central village situated at 35 kms distance from Zalau city, Braglez, Cristoltel, Solona, Testioara, Tihau, and Turbuta.

At the last census the population counted 4026 inhabitants of which 97,06% are Romanians, 0,27% Hungarians, 2,63% Roms and 0,04% other nationalities.

Due to the richness of the commune in exploitable mineral resources, the economy of the commune was based on mining activities. Besides, the agricultural sector and the secondary sector were also developing in the last few years.

The Somes River is the most important natural value of the commune. The ruins of the Roman camp in Tihau, the wooden church "Sfintii Arhangheli" in Turbuta (17th century) and the Josika castle in Surduc (17-19th centuries) are the most beautiful spectacles of the commune.

Szurduk

A 71,42 km2-en fekvo kozseg a Szamos volgye, a Semesnye-Gorboi dombsag es az Almas-Egregy medence talalkozasanal helyezkedik el. Kozigazgatasi területet het falu alkotja: Szurduk (Surduc) - a kozseg kozpontja, 35 km-re ralalhato Zilahtol, Totszallas (Braglez), Kiskeresztes (Cristoltel), Szalonnapatak (Solona), Josikatanya (Testioara), Tiho (Tihau) es Turboca (Turbuta).

A kozseg lakossaga az utolso nepszamlalas adatai szerint 4026 fo, a kovetkezo nemzetisegi megoszlasú: 97,06% roman, 0,27% magyar, 2,63% roma es 0,04% mas nemzetisegu.

A kozseg gazdag asvanyi kincsekben, igy regebben a barnaszen kitermelese jelentette gazdasaganak alapjat. Az utobbi evekben a mezogazdasag es a feldolgozoipar is fejlodo tendenciat mutatott.

A Szamos latvanya mellett a tihoi romai tabor romjai, a turbocai fatemplom (XVII. szazad) es a szurduki Josika kastely (XVII-XIX. szazad) a kozseg fobb nevezetessegei. Ez utobbi volt Josika Miklos regenyiro kedvenc tartozkodasi helye, az Abafi cimu regenye is itt született. Itt szallt meg II. Rakoczi Ferenc 1705-ben, a zsiboi csata elott.
