Comuna Treznea, cu un teritoriu administrativ în suprafaţă de 37,05 km2, este situată în partea centrală a judeţului Sălaj, la contactul Depresiunii Almaş-Agrij cu Munţii Meseşului.
Din punct de vedere administrativ, comuna Treznea are în componenţă două localităţi: Treznea, sat reşedinţă de comună situat la o distanţă de 15 km faţă de municipiul Zalău şi Bozna.
Atestările documentare ale celor două localităţi datează din 1440 pentru Treznea, când aşezarea era menţionată sub numele de Ewrdegkuth şi 1619 pentru Bozna.
In istoria românilor localitatea, Treznea are un loc aparte. Anual, în ziua de 14 septembrie, aici se comemorează memoria victimelor atrocităţilor trupelor horthyste din toamna anului 1940.
Populaţia comunei număra la ultimul recensământ 1033 de locuitori. Din punct de vedere etnic, populaţia prezintă următoarea structură: 94,09% români, 0,19% maghiari, 5,72% rromi.
Economia comunei este una predominant agricolă, cu o bună reprezentare a sectorului zootehnic.
Din punct de vedere turistic, comuna Treznea este un areal extrem de atractiv. Peisajele desprinse de sub Culmea Meseşului sunt deosebite. Alături de acestea, înălţimile cu urmele ruinelor unor turnuri de apărare romane, biserica de lemn "Sfinţii Apostoli" din Bozna, castelul Bay din Treznea şi nu în ultimul rând ospitalitatea tradiţională a localnicilor completează potenţialul turistic şi sporesc atractivitatea comunei.
The administrative territory of the commune occupies a 37,05 square kms, it lies in the central part of the county, at the contact point between the Almaş - Agrij Basin and the Meseş Mountains. It consists of 2 localities: Treznea - the central village situated at 15 kms distance from Zalău city and Bozna.
Treznea was first mentioned in 1440, when it was named Ewrdegkuth, Bozna was attested in 1619.
The total population of the commune counts, according to the last census, 1033 inhabitants. Its ethnical distribution is the following: 94,09% are Romanians, 0,19% Hungarians and 5,79% Roms.
The ruins of a Roman protecting tower, the wooden church "Sfinţii Apostoli" in Bozna and the Bay castle in Treznea are the most interesting touristical spectacles of the commune.
A község közigazgatási területe 37,05 km2, Szilágy megye középső részén, az Almás - Egregy medence és a Meszes hegység találkozásánál helyezkedik el. Két falu tartozik hozzá: Ördögkút (Treznea) - a község központja, 15 km-re található Zilahtól, és Szentpéterfalva (Bozna).
Ördögkút első írásos említése 1440-ből való, amikor Ewrdegkuth néven szerepel, míg Szentpéterfalvát 1619-ben jegyezték először írásban.
A község lakossága az utolsó népszámlálási adatok szerint 1033 fő, a következő nemzetiségi megoszlással: 94,09% román, 0,19% magyar és 5,72% roma nemzetiségű.
A község fő gazdasági ága a mezőgazdaság, ezen belül az állattenyésztés.
A Meszes csúcsáról belátható gyönyörű panoráma mellett a római védőtorony romjai, a szentpéterfalvi fatemplom és az ördögkúti neoromantikus Bay kastély a község főbb látványosságai. 1940 szeptemberében a község sajnálatos véres események színhelye volt, ezekre a lebontott református templom helyén emelt emlékmű emlékeztet.
