In 2017 Michelin started the investment of 60 million euros
in the Michelin Zalău Cord plant and 33 million euros in the
Michelin Zalău Tire.

Through the investment project, the heart plant will increase
its production capacity to reach 60 000 metric tons of metal
per year by 2019, supplying the tire production needs of seve-
ral Michelin plants in Europe, America and Asia.

In addition, the new 33 million-euro investment project
makes it possible to produce new tire models for the interme-
diate market segment, making Michelin Zalău Tires the only
Michelin factory in Europe to produce models for the lower
level of the intermediate segment, including the Tigar brand.
The Michelin Group has been present in Romania for over
17 years with a very dynamic and diverse activity, maintain-
ing an upward trend in both the number of employees and the
number of projects, covered areas and nationalities.
