The ethnic and religious diversity of the Sălaj community
is also an invitation to discover the spiritual diversity of
Transylvania. A series of ecumenical routes suggests
visiting Orthodox churches - Orthodox Cathedral “As-
sumption of the Virgin Mary” and “Holy Friday” Cultural
Spiritual Complex in Zalău, Orthodox Church “Sf. Prophet
Daniel“ from Jibou, Strâmba Monastery in Păduriş, Holy Wooden church “St. Apostles Peter and Paul”, Bozna
Trinity Bic Monastery, Roman Catholic -” Holy Trinity “Ro-
man Catholic Church in Zalău, Roman Catholic Church in Strâmba Monastery, Păduriș Wooden church “St. Archangels Mi-
Şimleu Silvaniei, Greek Catholic - Greek Catholic Church hail and Gavril”, Horoatu Cehului
The “Holy Family” in Zalău, reformed - the Reformed
Church in Zalău, the Reformed Church in Cristur Crişeni,
the Reformed Church in Cehu Silvaniei, the Reformed
Church of Uileacu Şimleului, and also Jewish - the Syna-
gogue in Şimleu Silvaniei.
The wooden churches are one of the distinctive elements
of cultural identity of the county, Sălaj having assumed to-
day the name of the “wooden churches county”, with 68
wooden churches, most of them dedicated to “St. Archan-
gels Mihail and Gavril” and “St. Apostles Peter and Paul”.
