Thus, the rich cultural and historical patrimony of Sălaj,
whose engine is Porolissum Moigrad Archaeological
Complex, with the military fortification area and the
civil city of Porolissum, the capital of Dacia Porolissen-
sis, belonging to the limes of this former province of
the Roman Empire, offers tourists a variety of possibili-
ties to explore the authenticity of Transylvania.

by them. In some places the waves of earth are very
clearly visible, being close to the original height, the
characteristics of the limes being best preserved in this
area of Moigrad (Porolissum) .

Located in the town of Moigrad with the military fortifi-
cation area and the civil city Porolissum, the Porolissum
Archaeological Complex, with an area of approximately
200 hectares, besides its enormous potential for attrac-
tiveness, is also a major area of interest for the project
of its inclusion in the world heritage UNESCO.
After the Roman conquest and organization of the Dacia
province, Roman military strategists raised the north-
eastern border of the Roman Empire, the limes defining
the territories of Dacia province of the area unoccupied
by the Romans, that of the free Dacians. The structure
of the limes consists in an extremely complex system
of towers, earth waves, walls, small fortifications, the Porolissum - Moigrad Archaeological Complex
castles behind the limes usually placed at a distance of
about 5 km from the limes, the related civil settlements
and other structures. Castles are similar, garrisons of At Porolissum, the Roman road leading to the Porta
Praetoria and also to the Fort is a section of the impe-

Apulum (Alba-Iulia), Ulpia Traiana Sarmizegetusa, Ti-
biscum (Caransebeş), Drobeta Turnu Severin and over
the bridge from Drobeta, Rome.
Among the objectives that can be visited within the
complex are: the fortification entrance (customs),
the temple of the Bel God, the Roman road, public
buildings - commercial spaces, temples; residences,
Pomăt hill fort, the amphitheater - one of the largest
civil buildings in Dacia, the basilica - an object located
in the civil area, the forum - the Porolissum market
and the commander’s home etc.
