In the South-Eastern part of the Plopiș Mountains, the Tusa
- Barcău Nature Reserve is located on the territory of Tusa
village, included in the Natura 2000 site - a protected area,
a natural landscape and forestry reserve. With an area of
more than 13 ha, the natural reservation includes a forest
sector, a meadow area, and two outbreaks (Izbucul Mare
and Izbucul Mic) with an impressive water flow. About 6
km from Barcău Springs there is the Trout Farm from Tusa.
Boghiș Baths - 9 km to the North-East of Iaz, is a resort
with sulphurous, sodium, bicarbonate, iodate, chlorinated
and thermal mineral waters at +42°C. During the summer

season, the outdoor pools with thermal water are also
surrounded by a natural setting that invites you to escape
from the daily routine.

To the South, after about 6 km, you can see the ruins of
Valcău Fortress. Builded probably after the Great Mon-
golian Invasion in 1241-1242, the fortress was hard tried
between the eleventh and sixteenth centuries.
