Our touristic invitations
The event is organized at Moigrad-Porolissum Archaeologi-
cal Complex, with its multiple objectives and attractions
such as: Fortification Entrance (customs), Temple of Bel,
Roman Road, Public Buildings, Dwellings, Fortress of auxi-
liary troops on Pomăt Hill, Amphitheater, Basilica, Forum Porolissum Fest
or the Commander’s dwelling. to have visited Dacia and implicitly the settlement of Poroli-
ssum was the Roman emperor Caracalla, known mainly by his
Zalău County Museum of History and Art constitution that offerred Roman citizenship to all free people
in the Roman Empire. Recent data converge to the hypothesis
of a visit to Porolissum in autumn 213 AD before the military
expedition in the Eastern part of the Roman Empire.
Charged with the ancient atmosphere, the air and the pano-
ramas you can only discover at Porolissum, you can then visit
Zalău city and its rich cultural heritage. A possibility to reach
Zalău - addressed only to the most courageous - is a hike of a
few hours on a portion of the limes of Roman Dacia, starting
from Porolissum, following the observation towers line situat-
ed on the summit of the Ferice Hill and the Meseş Mountains
to the European road E 81.
The civilian settlement of the Roman castrum on Pomăt Hill
was raised to the city status under the name Municipium Zalău County Museum of History and Art
Septimium Porolissense somewhere at the beginning of the
reign of Emperor Septimius Severus (193-211 AD). This sta-
tus was won, as in other cases in the Danubian provinces,
due to the involvement and support of the Roman army
during the 193-197 AD civil wars for the new emperor.
One of the few rulers of the Roman state who is deemed
